Privacy Policy for Turnus

Last updated: 9 September 2026

Turnus is a shift-work calendar for Android, published by Rameshkumar Kannan, contactable at rameshkumaroff@gmail.com.

The short version

Your rota never leaves your phone. The shifts you set up, the days you change, the notes you write and your reminder settings are stored only in the app’s own private storage on your device. Turnus has no accounts, no sign-up, no servers, and no way for us to see your data.

The app is free and paid for by two adverts: a banner at the bottom of the calendar, and one in the year view. That advert is served by Google AdMob, and AdMob collects data about your device. That is the only data collection in the app, and the rest of this policy is mostly about it.

What Turnus itself stores on your device

All of this stays in the app’s private storage and is never transmitted:

Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

Your rota is excluded from Android’s automatic backup. Android offers to copy an app’s data to your Google Drive and to carry it to a new phone, and Turnus opts its rota, your changed days and your notes out of both. That is deliberate: a backup you did not ask for is not a choice, and notes are the most private thing in this app. The only copy that travels is the one you make yourself with “Save a backup”, to a folder you pick. It does mean a new phone starts empty unless you saved that file.

What we do not do

Turnus contains no analytics and no crash-reporting SDK. Turnus’s own code does not read your advertising ID, your device ID, your contacts, your location, your accounts, or your files, and it has no code that uploads your rota anywhere.

The Google Mobile Ads SDK is part of the app and does read your advertising ID and your approximate location from your IP address, as set out in the section below. We draw that distinction because it is a real one — we cannot see any of it — but for Google Play’s Data Safety form the answer is that this app collects it, and that is how we have declared it.

Data collected by Google AdMob

To show adverts, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and processes:

Google acts as an independent controller for this data. Its use is governed by Google’s own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and, for advertising specifically, https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Turnus asks for your consent before any advert is requested, using Google’s certified consent tool. You can change or withdraw that consent at any time from Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices inside the app.

Outside those regions, adverts may be served without a consent prompt where local law permits. You can limit advert personalisation in your device settings under Settings → Google → Ads.

One network request Turnus makes

Turnus fetches a small configuration file from a public address so an advert slot can be switched off remotely without releasing a new version of the app.

That request contains no identifier and none of your rota data. As with any internet request, the server receiving it can see the IP address it came from. The app works normally when the request fails.

Notifications and alarms

If you turn reminders on, Turnus asks Android for permission to post notifications and schedules alarms on your device. Those alarms are set and read entirely on the phone; nothing about your shifts is sent anywhere in order to remind you.

Sharing, exporting and backing up your rota

Three features hand your rota to something outside the app, and all three happen only when you ask for them:

Turnus uploads none of these. Once a file or code has been sent to another app or person — including a backup saved into a folder that syncs to a cloud account — what happens to it is governed by their handling of it, not ours.

Children

Turnus is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to its processing.

Because Turnus stores your rota only on your device, you can exercise most of these yourself: your data is visible in the app, editable in the app, and deleted entirely when you uninstall or clear the app’s data.

For data collected by Google through AdMob, those rights are exercised against Google. Withdrawing consent in Settings → Privacy stops further collection for advertising where consent is the legal basis.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top, and — where the change affects what is collected — the app will ask for your consent again.
